One of our hMods, **Timbuk2** did a bit of research over on the Wayback Machine on the changing face of Boards.ie since 2000 and so I thought we’d share his results.
Just click on each image below to see the page in full. Because it’s a web archive, not every image will appear but it will give you some idea of what the site has looked like.
2000 – the colourful look:
2001 – we’ve gone blue. Check out the funky – and very useful – yellow links on the left:
2002 – “Harder, better, stronger, faster” apparently, plus showing off the Golden Spider and Zeddy awards we’d won. Our forum list – on the left – had really grown – take a look at the page in full:
2003/04 – our top navigation menu is introduced, making the homepage that much shorter.
2005 – all change – and all grey:
2006 – the start of a familiar design, but a much smaller homepage:
2007 – a bit of tidying on certain features, but solid foundations for the homepage today:
And now, over to you. What are your thoughts on the homepage design today? Would you change things? Are there features you’d like to see added or removed? Let us know in the comments or over in the Feedback forum. We’d be interested in knowing your thoughts!

I think the subbed forums should be the default landing page if logged in already, maybe moving boxes around like on the BBC website, err I cant really think of any other ideas… its fine as it is! Just make sure you roll out the beta skin, I use it all the time, its awesome.
Remember the clouds from last year? I liked the clouds.
