I got the chance to sit down with Republic of Ireland and Fulham soccer player Damien Duff today, who was talking ahead of Ireland’s upcoming World Cup Qualifier against Cyprus on Saturday September 5.
Of course I’d be the first to freely admit I know next to nothing about soccer compared to some fans, so who best to put questions to the winger than the members of the Boards.ie soccer forum at http://soccer.boards.ie? From the thread, a video of Duff in action posted by Eirebhoy:
Damien was extremely pleasant to talk to, if a little tired, and seemed glad to answer questions – some specific, some random and some challenging, from soccer fans who had an interest and a passion for the game.
In just 4 days we had over 70 questions submitted on a thread with over 91 replies and 2,800 views. I couldn’t get to ask every question, but I asked as many as I could – which ended up being over 60! The interview itself is 16 minutes in length.

Excellent interview Darragh. Shows everyone that pronouncing usernames is a bitch
Seemed a bit uncomforable / uninterested.
I think Damo looks like he has a bit of a hangover!
Good interview though, must have been interesting!
Woah, he really likes to avoid eye contact.
Damo looks like he’s regretting signing that contract with Lucozade in this interview…”if i could be anywhere else in the world..”
Looked a bit uninterested to be honest. Obviously hasn’t a personality for TV. I blame the interviewer for not making him comfortable.
