Boards.ie members are having a laugh for charity this Saturday, at the second Boards.ie stand-up comedy night in aid of The Santa Strike Force.
It’s on in Cassidy’s Bar on Westmoreland St, Dublin 2, with doors at 19:30 and the show itself kicking off at 20:30.
The comedic talents from Boards.ie on display include Scien, Grames_bond, Galveasean, Ianperth, Frobisher, Loglogbarkbark, Gareth Stack, Damon Blake and some bloke called DeVore. The evening is MC’d by Keiran Lawless, the Bulmers “Nothing Butt Funny” Competition Winner 2007.

Special guest on the night is Abie Philbin Bowman, award winning comedian, said to be “sealing his reputation as one of Ireland’s most thought-provoking comedians.”
Abie is the only Western stand-up stupid enough to have performed a religious, political comedy in Pakistan during the 2007 State of Emergency. He’s also the only Irish radio host imaginative enough to have marked Barack Obama’s election victory by interviewing the Ku Klux Klan live on election night.
From November 2008 to May 2009 he hosted the main talk show on youth station i105-107, weekdays from 1-4pm. Guests included Channel 4 News anchor, Jon Snow; Woodstock veteran, Arlo Guthrie and National Membership Director of the Ku Klux Klan, Dr Travis Pierce.
Outside of comedy and radio, Abie has taught creative writing at the Irish Centre for Talented Youth and contributed regularly to a wide range of media outlets including BBC Radio, The Dubliner magazine and RTE television. In 2008, he completed a Masters in International Peace Studies at Trinity College Dublin, with a Thesis entitled ‘How many Comedians does it take to change a Government?’
Time magazine describes Abie as ‘a rising star’.
All proceeds on the night go to a very – very – worthy cause and your support is appreciated.
